Bombardier Touches Down at India Aviation 2012
As demand for business and commercial aircraft continues to accelerate within the Asia-Pacific region; Bombardier Aerospace will demonstrate the growing importance of this dynamic market at the Third International Exhibition & Conference on Civil Aviation, India Aviation 2012.
On display at India’s largest international civil aviation air show, will be an impressive display of Bombardier’s industry-leading aircraft – the Learjet 60 XR, Challenger 300 and Global 5000 business jets, as well as the Q400 NextGen turboprop. Further supporting its commitment to the Asia-Pacific region, Bombardier will also showcase its customer services and integrated aftermarket portfolio.
India Aviation 2012 biennial show will be open to trade visitors from Wednesday, March 14 to Friday, March 16, and open to the public from Saturday, March 17 to Sunday, March 18. The Bombardier chalet, located by the static display area at chalets 7 – 8, will be closed on Sunday, March 18.
Business Aircraft
Business aviation in India is experiencing rapid growth. Bombardier’s latest market forecast for the aviation industry predicts a total delivery of 1,330 business jet deliveries destined for India over the next 20 years. Bombardier’s Learjet, Challenger and Global business jets are all in operation in India.
Commercial Aircraft
Bombardier forecasts that the Asia-Pacific region (including China) will take delivery of approximately 4,000 aircraft in the 20- to 149-seat category over the next twenty years.
India’s large land mass, large population and strong economic performance are driving the growth in the country’s domestic air travel, which is increasing proportionately with the development of the country’s middle-class community. Bombardier’s portfolio of commercial aircraft – the Q400 NextGen turboprop, the CRJ NextGen regional jets and the all-new CSeries family of aircraft – are ideally suited to meet the forecasted requirement for some 630 aircraft in the 60- to 149-seat category in India.
Currently, Air India Regional is operating four CRJ700 regional jets, and SpiceJet has ordered 15 Q400 NextGen turboprops and has placed options on an additional 15. Seven of the ordered aircraft have already been delivered to SpiceJet and are in revenue service. Altogether, more than 300 Bombardier CRJ Series and Q-Series aircraft are in service with, or have been ordered by, operators in the Asia-Pacific region (including China).
Putting our customers first locally, globally
Bombardier is committed to putting its customers first by offering them the highest level of support as close as possible to their operational bases. As part of this commitment to customers in India, Bombardier opened a Regional Support Office in Mumbai in 2010. The office was the first in the Bombardier Customer Services network to support both business and commercial aircraft in one location.
Bombardier has also recently boosted support for its business aircraft customers through the addition of new capabilities at its Authorized Service Facility (ASF) in India, Air Works in Mumbai. Air Works now offers full ASF maintenance capabilities for Learjet 60 and Learjet 60 XR business jets and continues to serve as an Aircraft-On-Ground (AOG) Line Maintenance Facility on Challenger 300, Challenger 604, Challenger 605 and Global series aircraft.

Learjet 60 XR aircraft: The Learjet 60 XR aircraft is a proven model of performance, comfort, value and versatility in the midsize jet market segment. It delivers a high cruise speed of Mach 0.81 (861 km/hr), superior climb capabilities, proven fuel efficiency and low direct operating costs per nautical mile*. The jet’s higher operating altitudes – certified to 51,000 ft (15,545 m) – translate to time savings due to better winds, less traffic and less turbulence. The Learjet 60 XR aircraft can fly from Hyderabad to Hong Kong nonstop with four passengers and two crew*.
Challenger 300 aircraft: A bespoke customer-designed aircraft, the Challenger 300 jet offers transcontinental range and superior long-range cruise speed with eight passengers. It can fly Hyderabad – Shanghai non-stop* with a full payload, and its superior airfield performance allows the aircraft to operate out of 5,000-foot (1,524-m) runways with ease*. The Challenger 300 business jet offers the best performance and value amongst its competitors and has consistently exceeded customer expectations. With over 300 Challenger 300 jets in service, it is the market leader amongst its peers.
Global 5000 aircraft: The super large Global 5000 jet combines superior transatlantic speed with the largest cabin in its market segment. It features high-speed Internet connectivity, unmatched entertainment options, a head-up flight display system and one of the largest field-of-view of any business aircraft. The aircraft can connect Hyderabad to Cape Town non-stop* with 10 passengers and three crew*.
Q400 NextGen aircraft: Optimized for short-haul operations, the “comfortably greener,” 70- to 80-seat Q400 NextGen aircraft is a large, fast, quiet and fuel-efficient turboprop. It provides an ideal balance of passenger comfort and operating economics with a reduced environmental footprint. The SpiceJet Q400 NextGen aircraft which will be on display, is one of seven delivered to the airline. After a little more than six months in high-cycle service, and operating in often harsh, “hot and high” environments, SpiceJet’s fleet of Q400 NextGen aircraft has already reached a dispatch reliability of 99.4 per cent. This remarkable achievement is a strong testimony to the ruggedness and reliability of the Q400 NextGen aircraft which is also proving itself to be very popular with SpiceJet's passengers.
