You better watch out,
You better not shout,
You better not cry,
I'm telling you why,
Santa Claus is flying in now!
Everybody knows, Santa "sees you when you're sleeping" and "knows when you're awake." But did you know that Capt. Kringle bases out of the Salina Municipal Airport every December to make his final preparations for his ever-famous 'round the world flight?
While he is in town, the Jolly Ol' Elf will host a fly-in and open house exclusively for the good boys and girls of Salina and the surrounding area, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. at the Salina Airport's Hangar 600 located at 2720 Arnold.
Santa's reindeer will be resting up for the big day, so don't miss his 'new ride.' Plenty of military and civilian aircraft will be available for tours and viewing.
Kids of all ages will enjoy free cookies and cocoa with Mr. and Mrs. Claus and Santa's entourage of Christmas folk. SeaPort Airlines will host a coloring contest and one winner in each of three age categories will receive a round trip ticket for themselves and a guardian on SeaPort.
With Ol' St. Nick's little elves hard at work in the North Pole, K-State Salina student organizations will ready with fun crafts and activities, not to mention that oh so necessary photo op with Santa. They will also be keeping parents supplied with hot coffee. All club activities will require a small donation. The Salina Military Affairs Council will be painting faces for extra fun.
Santa's favorite fuel stop, America Jet is offering 30-minute Discovery Flights (weather permitting) from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for $20 per person.
The Salina Airport is proud to host this world wide mission and negotiations have already begun for next year. With so many nice little boys and girls, Santa would be hard pressed to find a better location.
