Salina, Kan., (October 26, 2011) - K-State Salina's Women in Aviation will host Trunk or Treat on the K-State Salina campus, Thursday, Oct. 27 from 5 - 7 p.m. This event presents an alternative Halloween option that provides children with a fun and safe environment to trick-or-treat.

Earlier this month, K-State Salina's Women in Aviation - hosted their third annual plane wash and wax weekend at Salina Municipal Airport. The Wildcat Women in Aviation hosted this event to raise funds to attend the Women in Aviation, International conference which will be held in Dallas, Texas, this spring.

The Wildcat Women in Aviation's primary mission is to attend the annual conference but they are also active on the giving end as well. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month they gave K-State Salina students pink cookies and collected donations for Susan G. Koman for the Cure.

In order to show appreciation for the Salina tower controllers for all they do for K-State Salina aviators, the Wildcat Women in Aviation also took homemade treats up to the tower early last week.

"It is very important that K-State students like us let the controllers know they are appreciated," said Kara Godsil, member of Women in Aviation. "They are very patient with our student pilots and help give us great experience flying in controlled airspace."

Women in Aviation will be present again at the Salina Airport Authority's Christmas-themed fly-in, Candy Canes and Airplanes on Dec. 3, selling cookie jars and staging a surprise activity for any little ones in attendance.

"We would like to thank Salina Airport Authority for their continued support by allowing us to use their facilities for these events. Without their help we would not have near the success that we have had," said Jennifer McLean, president of the Wildcat Women in Aviation. "We would also like to thank everyone who comes to our events and shows us support!"

Women in Aviation, International is a nonprofit organization which encourages the advancement of women who are striving for challenging and fulfilling careers in the aviation and aerospace industries.
