Bombardier Aerospace today announced that the aft fuselage of its new Global 7000 and Global 8000 business jets will be built at its site in Querétaro, Mexico .

“Our Querétaro site is already producing large components for several of our current production business aircraft, including the Global 5000 and Global 6000 jets,” said Steve Ridolfi, President, Bombardier Business Aircraft. “Its participation in the Global 7000 and Global 8000 jet program will further contribute to this world-class facility’s expertise and Bombardier’s expansion of its leadership worldwide.”

The Querétaro site currently produces the aft fuselage of the Global 5000 and Global 6000 jets, as well as the Learjet 85 aircraft’s major composite structures, including fuselage lay-up and sub-system installation, wiring harness fabrication and installation, wing assembly, and horizontal and vertical stabilizer assemblies.

“We are very proud to be part of the Global 7000 and Global 8000 aircraft production team,” said Réal Gervais, Vice President, Mexico Manufacturing Centre, Bombardier Aerospace. “We are confident that our team's proven experience, dedication and commitment to excellence on the current production Global aircraft will make a positive contribution to these innovative new aircraft.”

Final assembly of the Global 7000 and Global 8000 jets will take place at Bombardier’s manufacturing site in Toronto, Ontario, while interior completion will take place at its Global Completion Centre in Dorval, Québec.

Bombardier Aerospace in Querétaro
First established in 2006, operations at Bombardier’s facility in Mexico have grown to employ approximately 1,700 workers and include the manufacture of structural aircraft components, including the Global business jet family aft fuselage, the Q400 NextGen aircraft flight control work package (rudder, elevator and horizontal stabilizer), the CRJ700/900/1000 NextGen and Challenger 605/850 aircraft rudders, the aforementioned involvement in the Learjet 85 aircraft program, as well as main harnesses and electrical subassemblies for Bombardier business and commercial aircraft. Bombardier and its employees in Querétaro are very involved in the local community. The company is a long-term supporter of the Sierra Gorda World Biosphere Reserve and provides resources for three specific projects that have an effect on the global and local environment, whether through the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the responsible use of natural resources or the development of programs that increase community well-being. Causa Querétaro, a group run by employees, organizes projects in an effort to help needy sectors within the community, and Bombardier supports these projects with funds received through its recycling program.
