Swanson, Salina Airport receive awards Chicago, (February 23, 2011) - The Salina Airport Authority has been awarded its 16th Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its comprehensive annual financial report. "Receiving the GFOA Certificate is an achievement standard that the Airport Authority has set for its financial reporting," said Manager of Administration and Finance Shelli Swanson. "This standard helps us reach our goal of delivering timely financial information to our decision makers, creditors and other stakeholders that is accurate, reliable and in conformance with governmental accounting standards." Swanson received her 11th Award of Financial Reporting Achievement as the individual primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR. Each year the CAFR has been submitted to the GFOA, Swanson and the Airport Authority have received these awards. "The awards named again this year for Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting are confirmation that Shelli and staff continue to provide the highest level of performance and representation for the Salina Airport Authority," said Board Chairman Jeff Thompson. "Salina often hears of the business activity at the airport and its Aviation and Industrial Center, but it does not hear enough about the behind the scenes work and workers that are the core to why Salina's airport is successful." The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR. |
