Bombardier to Discuss Optimized Commercial Aircraft Solutions at Airex 2010
Bombardier Commercial Aircraft will highlight its optimized solutions for Turkey’s mainline and regional airlines during Airex 2010 – 8th International Civil Aviation and Airports Exhibition. The event takes place in Istanbul, Turkey from September 30 to October 3, 2010.
All Bombardier Commercial Aircraft products have significant potential in Turkey. For short-haul operations, Bombardier’s 70- to 80-seat “comfortably greener” Q400 NextGen airliner is a fast, fuel-efficient and lower-emission large turboprop. For medium-haul applications, the CRJ NextGen family of aircraft is a benchmark for regional jet efficiency in the 60- to 100-seat segment. And for longer routes, the game-changing CSeries airliners – the world’s newest and most advanced single-aisle aircraft for the 100- to 149-seat segment – are setting new standards in technology, fuel efficiency and reduced environmental impact.
Bombardier Commercial Aircraft’s marketing and sales team for Turkey, led by Steven Aliment, Vice President, European Sales, will be present at Airex 2010. “The CSeries family of aircraft has tremendous potential in Turkey,” said Mr. Aliment. “Turkish operators have placed orders for more than 70 single-aisle aircraft, including 20 in the 100- to 149-seat segment over the past two years and Bombardier is well positioned to capture additional orders. Our CSeries aircraft are ideally suited as replacements for aging, less optimized equipment currently in service.”
The CSeries jetliners have lower operating costs, lower fuel burn, lower noise and reduced emissions compared to both older generation airliners and in-production aircraft in the same class. CSeries aircraft are also being designed for short-field, short-haul missions as well as for transcontinental capability of up to 2,950 nm.
“Turkey has more than 20 cities with populations exceeding 250,000 people. There is and will be an increasing requirement for short- and medium-haul connections to Istanbul and Ankara, not to mention point-to-point routes,” added Mr. Aliment. “These are market segments for which our Q400 NextGen and CRJ NextGen Series aircraft were designed. We are confident Bombardier Commercial Aircraft will play an important role in Turkey’s current and future civil aviation.”
