Bombardier Aerospace is displaying its continuing commitment to the Mexican and Latin American market with its attendance at AeroExpo 2009 in Acapulco, Mexico from December 3 to 5, 2009. In addition to highlighting its wide product and service portfolio at the Bombardier Aerospace exhibit, the company is presenting three aircraft at its static display: a super light Learjet 45 XR aircraft, a Challenger 605 aircraft and a full-scale mock-up of the all-new Learjet 85 jet.

“With a market share of over 25% in Latin America and an installed base of over 110 aircraft in Mexico, Bombardier Business Aircraft is well positioned for future growth in this very dynamic market”, stated Fabio Rebello, Regional Vice President, Sales, Latin America, Bombardier Business Aircraft.

“Currently 72 Bombardier CRJ regional jets and Dash 8/Q-Series turboprops are operating in Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean and we see a developing opportunity for new low cost regional and single-aisle mainline aircraft in the region,” said Kevin Smith, Vice President, Sales, Americas, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. “We have the right products for this market. They are economical to operate, comfortable for passengers and they have a reduced impact on the environment.”

During the airshow, Bombardier will highlight its CRJ NextGen series of regional jets offering capacities from 50 to 100 seats, the 68- to 80-seat Q400 NextGen regional turboprop and its new 110- to 130-seat CSeries single-aisle mainline jetliner. From its base in Guadalajara, Mexicana Link operates 13 CRJ200 regional jets, while Estafeta Cargo of Mexico City uses the same model configured for cargo operations. In addition, the Mexican Navy operates a Dash 8-100 aircraft.

Bombardier Aerospace in Mexico
Bombardier Aerospace operates a world-class manufacturing facility in Querétaro, Mexico, which produces electrical harnesses for all Bombardier aircraft currently in production. The 1,100 employees (including contractors) at the facility also produce structural aircraft components including the mid-fuselage for the Challenger 850 aircraft, the Q400 aircraft flight control work package (rudder, elevator and horizontal stabilizer), and the rear fuselage for the Global family of aircraft.

Also, in continuance of its long-term commitment to develop the aerospace industry within Mexico, Bombardier announced in May 2008 that it will manufacture the composite structure for its all-new, state-of-the-art Learjet 85 business jet in a new facility in the Querétaro Aerospace Park. The Querétaro site will also manufacture the electrical harness and perform sub-assembly systems installation for the aircraft.

In October 2008, Bombardier became a long-term supporter of the Sierra Gorda World Biosphere Reserve in Querétaro. Bombardier’s assistance with three environmental and economic development projects will benefit the reserve’s 23,000 residents directly and the more than 90,000 people in the region indirectly.

Querétaro, located north of Mexico City, offers quality industrial and educational infrastructures, a skilled population and dynamic economic development policies. Its modern airport provides Bombardier Aerospace, its suppliers and other future members of the new Mexican aerospace cluster, the best potential for growth and synergies.

In addition to Bombardier Aerospace having aircraft component facilities located in Mexico, Bombardier Transportation is also present through its facility in Ciudad Sahagún.

Trade visitors have the opportunity to visit AeroExpo 2009 – Mexico’s largest aviation and aerospace trade show – from Thursday, December 3 to Saturday, December 5. The Bombardier Aerospace exhibit (A-12) will be located at the Fairmont Acapulco Princess Hotel, Resort and Convention Centre.

Bombardier aircraft on static display include

  • Learjet 45 XR: The eight passenger Learjet 45 XR aircraft flies faster than any other aircraft in its category, while offering the best fuel efficiency and lowest direct operating costs. With a true double-club configuration, the spacious cabin offers seated passengers exceptional head and shoulder room. The aircraft can fly 1,824 nm (3,378 km) with eight passengers with NBAA IFR (100 nm) fuel reserves*.
  • Learjet 85 mock-up: Launched on October 30, 2007, and moving full-speed ahead towards entry into service in 2013, the new Learjet 85 aircraft will be the first Bombardier jet to feature an all-composite structure and will be the first all-composite structure business jet designed for type certification under U.S. Federal Aviation Administration FAR Part 25. The aircraft will seat up to eight passengers, target high-speed cruise of Mach 0.82 and a transcontinental range of up to 3,000 nautical miles (5,556 km)*. The full-scale cabin mock-up features a new forward club and aft divan configuration, full galley, large windows that translate to an abundance of natural light in the cabin and a Pro Line Fusion avionics suite.
  • Challenger 605: The Challenger 605 jet features the widest stand-up cabin of any large category business jet available today. It is equipped with a Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite and an all new cabin electronic system. It can whisk five-passengers from Acapulco-Honolulu and Acapulco-Brasilia non-stop*, in superior comfort. Optional equipment on the Challenger 605 jet now includes the Bombardier Enhanced Vision System (BEVS), providing pilots with significantly improved situational awareness and improved visibility of runway lights and the runway environment in difficult operating conditions such as low visibility due to weather or darkness.
