Qantas Profit Slumps, Outlook Uncertain

Australian carrier Qantas pointed to early signs of improved passenger volumes after reporting an 87 percent drop in annual profit on a slump in demand for air travel. The airline also announced plans to lease extra capacity for its budget carrier Jetstar, but the group declined to give a profit outlook, saying business conditions were too uncertain.
