Panamanian airline Copa on Thursday said it had ordered 13 Boeing 737-800 planes, worth about USD$1 billion at list prices, and had options for an additional eight.
With the announcement, Copa now has 27 firm orders for 737s.
Delivery of the 13 newly ordered 737s is set to begin in 2012 and end in 2015.
Boeing has suffered this year under the weight of economic weakness that has led carriers to cancel or delay orders for aircraft.
Copa, a Latin American passenger and cargo service, flies to destinations in North, Central and South America as well as the Caribbean.
