Despite several rounds of capacity cuts, Air France-KLM still hasn’t been able to find the right balance between supply and demand.
The airline group notes that in June, traffic was down 6.4%, falling more sharply than the 5% year-on-year reduction in capacity. Load factors came down another 1.1 percentage points, although still at a relatively healthy 80.3%.
The airline also notes that “unit revenues were weak.”
One of the bright spots for Air France-KLM was that in cargo, declines have abated. The airline has now seen several weeks of cargo load factors stabilizing.
For June, Air France-KLM carried a total of 6.4 million passengers, or around 7% fewer than for the same period last year. The drop in traffic as measured in revenue passenger kilometers was down for the month ahead of the 5.8% year-to-date decline.
