Air France has finished replacing air speed monitors on all of its long-haul Airbus aircraft even though the cause of the crash of Flight 447 two weeks ago remains a mystery, a pilots’ union official said Monday.
The investigation has focused on the possibility that external speed monitors iced over and gave false readings.
Also Monday, the first of two United States Navy high-tech devices began listening for pings emitted by the plane’s voice and data recorders in the crash site area northeast of Brazil.
