Bombardier Safety Standdown Europe Returns to Geneva

World-renowned annual event held in conjunction with EBACE for third consecutive year

Bombardier Aerospace, the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) and the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA), today announced that the third annual European Safety Standdown will be held on Monday, May 11, in Geneva, Switzerland, at the Crowne Plaza Geneva Hotel, on the eve of the 9th annual European Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition (EBACE).

The popular Bombardier Safety Standdown, held annually in Kansas since 1996, made its European debut in Geneva in 2007. This year, the world-class seminar will feature an extended line-up of internationally acclaimed presenters.

“Safety is the first priority in our industry”, said James Hoblyn, president, Bombardier customer services and specialized and amphibious aircraft. “The Bombardier Safety Standdown provides pilots knowledge-based training approaches and crucial information in a unique format. Our goal is to reach as many aircraft operators as possible and EBACE is a great venue to extend this training opportunity to the international business aircraft market base.”

Safety Standdown provides attendees with unprecedented insight into the human factors that cause errors in judgment and the latest training approaches beyond the regulatory skill-based training in order to avoid them. This initiative can benefit all operators - regardless of the type of aircraft they fly or its manufacturer– as they discover first-hand how they can apply the latest safety intelligence and expertise to their operations. New on the program this year, a module on Crew Resource Management presented by Aerospace Analyst and Author, Mr. John Nance.

Bombardier pioneering safety worldwide
Originally conceived as a safety-training event for the Learjet flight demonstration team, the conference quickly gained a reputation for excellence beyond Bombardier’s customer base.
In 1999, growing interest prompted Bombardier to open the event to all pilots – whether corporate, commercial or military.

Safety Standdown has been endorsed by top aeronautical training institutions for the quality and depth of its content. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the National Test Pilot School and NBAA Certified Aviaton Manager (CAM) all offer continuing education credits to all attendees. As of November 2008, over 3,500 pilots, crewmembers, safety specialists and industry officials had graduated from Safety Standdown.

The European edition of the seminar is a complement to the four-day Safety Standdown seminar, scheduled for September 28 - October 1 in Wichita, Kansas.
