SAA Revenue Could Grow At Least 10 Percent - Report

January 11, 2009

State-owned South African Airways (SAA) is confident it can grow revenue by at least 10 percent in 2008/09 driven by sustained passenger demand, the company's spokeswoman was quoted as saying in a paper.

The airline reported full-year revenue of ZAR22.5 billion rand (USD$2.29 billion) for the previous financial year.

SAA's Robyn Chalmers said the airline would periodically adjust its flight schedule to changes in passenger traffic, the Business Times paper reported on Sunday.

"SAA's current schedule was developed taking into account the impact of the global economic slowdown. SAA is closely monitoring its forecast passenger volumes," the paper quoted her as saying.

She also said the airline would continue to add new routes, especially within Africa to expand its network on the continent.
