Injuries reported as Zest MA60 crashes on landing

By David Kaminski-Morrow

Injuries are being reported after a Philippine aircraft, apparently a Xian Aircraft MA60 operated by Zest Airways, crashed at Caticlan after a domestic flight.

The aircraft is said to have been operating flight 6K865 from the Philippine capital, Manila, with around 25 on board. Caticlan is located in Aklan province, about 300km south of Manila.

Reports from the Philippines cite civil aviation authority sources as stating that the aircraft undershot Caticlan's runway at about 07:00.

The aircraft is said to have struck the perimeter fence of the airport with its wing, but the circumstances of the accident and the extent of damage to the aircraft are unclear.

Zest Airways is the brand name newly-adopted by the airline Asian Spirit.

Its Chinese-built MA60s are relatively young, the carrier having ordered five of the type last year.
